A Phoenix Basket of Roots Holds Nothing but Dreams
Paper Terracotta
This terracotta sculpture explores the transformative dialogue between destruction and creation. Like metal is tempered, and clay is transformed by fire, dreams are forged in adversity, intertwining and taking root. The sculpture’s fiery, curling base gives rise to delicate yet resilient roots—symbols of endurance, interconnectedness, and the unseen strength that fuels regeneration. Yet, within this intricate web, there is no space for distractions, no place for old wounds—only the fluid presence of dreams. It reflects on the cyclical nature of hardship and growth, illustrating that from the crucible of challenges, new possibilities emerge, held and nurtured by the roots of one’s own becoming.
